2019年3月12日 サンフランシスコ発 – Linux Foundationは、オープンソース開発者とそれを支える個人および企業・組織を一層活性化し、オープンソース技術の持続可能性、セキュリティ、ダイバーシティを前進させる新プラットフォーム「CommunityBridge」を発表しました。

2019年から2020年にかけて、Linux Foundationはオープンソース開発者とエコシステム向けに一連のCommunityBridgeツールをリリースします。初回のCommunityBridgeリリースでは、オープンソース コミュニティに3つの重要なツールへの早期アクセスを提供します。

  • CommunityBridge Funding : 開発者が資金を調達し使うことができます。
  • CommunityBridge Security : 潜在的な脆弱性と解決策への透明性を提供します。
  • CommunityBridge People : メンターと、プロジェクト参加とダイバーシティ推進に興味のある人材が、簡単につながることを可能にします。

メンテナー＆開発者アクセスとLinux Foundationサポート : メンテナーと開発者はCommunityBridgeプラットフォームへのアクセスと使用に費用はかかりません。CommunityBridge早期アクセス プログラムに参加するプロジェクトへのインセンティブとして、プラットフォームを通じて調達された最初の1000万米ドル分のプラットフォームと支払処理手数料の費用をLFが負担します。

セキュリティの向上 : 2017 Forresterで引用されたサードパーティの調査によると、開発者の80〜90%がオープンソース コンポーネントを基盤として使用しており、全てのソフトウェアにとってクリティカルな依存関係にあります。CommunityBridgeは、メンテナーにアップストリームの依存関係、セキュリティ脆弱性、利用状況レポート、ライセンスの詳細についての関連情報を提供するために、スキャニングサービスなど豊かなセキュリティ機能を提供します。また、複製可能な不具合を提供するバグバウンティ サービスや、メンテナーがプロジェクトのセキュリティと堅牢性を向上させるために簡単に使用できる、実用的なデータのバックログも提供します。

ダイバーシティへのコミットメント : Linux Foundationは、メンタリングを通じてコミュニティの多様性を改善することに重点を置いたオープンソース プロジェクトに報酬を与える新たなインセンティブ プログラムを発表します。新Diversity Stipends Matchingプログラムは、CommunityBridgeプラットフォームを通じてプロジェクトへの従事を決めた最初の100人の多様な人材に対して3,000米ドルを支給します。このプログラムは、性別(LGBTQ、女性)、人種、障害などを含む、テクノロジーやオープンソース コミュニティで従来から少数派の人材による参加を促進します。

“Mosca is the Node.js MQTT broker used by a huge number of companies inside their products to connect devices across the globe,” said Matteo Collina, founder of Mosca. “I started Mosca during my PhD, and the community now needs way more support than what I can provide in my spare time.”

OpenFaaS

“I am excited about how CommunityBridge is connecting sponsors with OSS communities,” said Alex Ellis, OpenFaaS Founder & Lead. “My experience with OpenFaaS has shown that when an OSS project gains traction, it also requires financial backing and full-time engineering in order to be sustainable.
