2018年3月26日、ロサンゼルス (Open Networking Summit) 発 － The Linux Foundationは本日、新たな傘下プロジェクトLF Deep Learning Foundationを発足しました。同プロジェクトは、人工知能、マシン ラーニング、およびディープ ラーニングにおけるオープン ソース イノベーションを支援・維持し、これらのクリティカルな新技術を開発者やデータ サイエンティストがどこでも利用できるようにします。
LF Deep Learningの創設メンバーは、Amdocs、AT&T、B.Yond、Baidu、Huawei、Nokia、Tech Mahindra、Tencent、Univa、およびZTEです。メンバーは、ツールやインフラの開発者や利用者が交流して各々の取り組みを調和させ、ディープ ラーニング技術の普及を加速できる中立な場の実現に取り組んでいます。
The Linux Foundationのエグゼクティブ ディレクターであるJim Zemlinは、次のように述べています。

本日、LF Deep Learningの発足発表の一環で、Acumos AI Project (AIモデル・AIワークフローの発見・開発・共有に特化したプラットフォーム) も発表されました。Acumos AI Projectの初期のコードは、AT&TとTech Mahindraが提供しています。
同プロジェクトは、AIの力を誰もが利用できるように、機械学習モデル・深層学習モデル・分析モデルを簡単に作成・共有・発見・適用できるようにします。The Linux FoundationはAcumos AIプラットフォームとAcumosマーケットプレイスをホストし、同プロジェクトの長期的維持に向けてアクティブで大規模なエコシステムの育成をめざします。コードは本日の時点でダウンロード可能です。
LF Deep Learningには、このAcumos AI Projectに加え、今後はBaiduやTencentなどからもプロジェクト貢献が見込まれています。BaiduのEDLプロジェクトは、Kubernetesのエラスティック スケジューリング機能を強化し、PaddlePaddleの障害許容機能を使用して、Kubernetesクラスタの有用性を大きく向上させます。TencentのAngelプロジェクト（Tencentと北京大学が共同開発した高性能分散機械学習プラットフォーム）は、ビッグ データ/モデルのためのプロジェクトです。10億超の膨大なパラメーターに対応できます。
